Google Phone Number Verification Solved: Including Google Play Console, Gmail, Admob and More

Welcome back to this page. Today, we're addressing the persistent issue of resolving Google PlayStore Console Number Verification during account creation. Numerous complaints and direct messages have been sent to the Google PlayStore Team regarding this matter, and it seems their provided solutions are not effectively resolving the problem. In light of this, I'm dedicating this time to assist the PlayStore Console Team in finding a solution to this recurring issue.

Lets get started:

The issue arises during the creation of a Google Play Console account, specifically when prompted to enter the "Contact Phone Number." At this stage, you are required to input your phone number and verify it using either SMS or a call. This is where the problem occurs. Upon entering your correct phone number and clicking on the "verify phone number" hyperlink, you may encounter an error message stating, "We can't verify your phone number right now. Try again later.

If this error persists after attempting with different phone numbers, it's important to understand that the problem may stem from excessive use of SMS or call verification attempts on a single number within a short period. This leads to a depletion of requests for resending or using SMS/call methods for verification on that specific number. Consequently, you must wait for a certain period, typically one week or more, before attempting to verify the same number again.

Additionally, the error may impact not only the number but also your device and account. Even if you switch to a different number, you may still need to wait for weeks before retrying. However, in some cases, the issue may only affect the number. In such instances, changing to another number allows you to use the SMS or call method for instant verification without waiting.

It's noteworthy that Google's phone number verification process primarily affects the phone number rather than the account and phone number. Therefore, changing the number should resolve the issue without encountering errors. However, it's important to note that this specific formula doesn't apply to Google PlayStore Console Account Number Verification now. So let's explore how to address this unique error.

NB: This error or problem began in October 2023. Initially, the phone number verification process was straightforward and convenient. However, this issue is also experienced when creating a Gmail account and linking a phone number to it (another instance of phone number verification). The problem extends to Admob account creation and may potentially apply to other Google services that involve phone number verification.

Solution from the Google Play Console Team (Note: It may not work for everyone, but it's worth trying):

1. Use Incognito Mode in your browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, or others, to sign in to your Gmail account and use it to create a Google Play Console account. NB: The instructions provided do not specify whether to use an old or new Gmail account. While they suggest that either should work, our experience indicates that it has not been successful for us if we use new Gmail account.

2. Clear the cache, data, and cookies of your browser application. If you're using a mobile device, you can do this within the browser app settings or go to your phone settings, navigate to "Apps," find your browser app, tap on it, and then select "Storage." From there, tap on "Clear Data", you are done." If you're on a PC or Mac, follow the same process to clear browser cookies, cache, and data. Solution Based on My Experience (Successfully Tested - Solution for All):

- You must use an old Gmail account, preferably aged between 3 months to a few years (in my friend's case, it was 2 years old). Do not attempt to create a Gmail account on the same day you want to use it for setting up a Google Play Store Console account. It won't work, so don't bother. I attempted this multiple times for my friends using newly created Gmail accounts, but it was unsuccessful. However, when I used an old Gmail account, it worked without any issues.

- After obtaining your old Gmail account, the next step is to acquire SIM cards from different network operators. This is crucial because using numbers from certain network operators may result in the same issue, displaying the error message "We can't verify your phone number right now. Try again later."

For example, if you are in Ghana, it's observed that MTN SIM cards are not accepted for number verification during Google Play Store Console account creation. Despite attempting verification with about 30 MTN SIM cards, all were rejected by the Google system, consistently generating errors. However, using Vodafone or AirtelTigo SIM cards for verification proved to be successful without encountering errors.

I recommend obtaining your own Vodafone or AirtelTigo SIM card for Google number verification. If you are in a different location, try using various numbers to check if verification can be completed successfully for you.

Damages to You as the Account Creator and to Google:

1. Inconvenience and Frustration: Persistent issues during the account creation process can lead to frustration and inconvenience for you as the user. It may result in wasted time and effort.

2. Trust and Credibility: If the account creation process is challenging or if errors persist, it can impact your trust and confidence in Google's services. This may affect your perception of the platform's reliability.

3. Loss of Productivity: Difficulties in creating an account may lead to a loss of productivity, especially if the intended use of the Google Play Console is time-sensitive or critical for your projects.

4. Potential Financial Impact: Delays or issues in account creation may have financial implications, especially if the Google Play Console is essential for business operations or app development with associated costs.

5. Negative Impact on Google's Reputation: Recurrent difficulties in the account creation process can contribute to a negative perception of Google's services, potentially affecting its reputation among users.

6. Customer Support Challenges: Multiple failed attempts at account creation may result in increased support requests, placing a burden on customer support services and potentially affecting their efficiency.

7. This issue may allow account creators to use numbers that do not belong to them to verify their accounts. Later, Google may attempt to contact them through the provided phone number during account creation, but they may not be reachable as the number does not belong to them. This can result in important messages not reaching the account creators, and, in some cases, it may lead to the termination or suspension of their accounts. Therefore, using any number that do not belong to you for verification in the account verification section has disadvantages.

Please Google: It's crucial for Google to address and resolve such issues promptly to maintain user satisfaction and uphold the reputation of their services.
